We need your help and we will bribe you for it
As of this morning we are starting our “please forward this email” campaign. We’ve been getting really good feedback from this, so if you like it, please forward it to as many people as you feel comfortable doing so. We know what you’re thinking, “what’s in it for me?” And we’ve got you covered. Forward the email and send us proof (a screen grab will probably be your best bet) at thegamemanager4@gmail.com or on Facebook or Twitter and we will have “rewards” which are as follows:
- Forwarded to 5+ people: a shout out at the top of the next email
- Forwarded to 10+ people: a shout out and we’ll tell people to follow your social media
- Forwarded to 25+ people: shout outs and you pick a tweet, vine, stat, topic or Tebow joke for an email
- Forwarded to 50+ people: shout outs and pick two tweets, vines, stats etcs.
- Forwarded to 100+ people: all of the above, and we’ll dedicate the email to you, name it after you and put in a paragraph about you, saying whatever you want. This can also be transferred to a website or company or something of yours you want people to see.
Stat of the Day
It’s not the tweet of the day, but this stat comes directly from somebody else’s Twitter account, so we’ll just properly source it….

Buddy, Buddy, Buddy, can’t you see, sometimes your threes just hypnotize me
We feel like we could just copy and paste the recaps from all of the Oklahoma tournament wins we have written up in the past two weeks. Buddy Hield scored 37 points with eight made threes and Oklahoma led Oregon comfortably throughout the entirety of their Elite Eight matchup. The only person to score more points than Hield in the NCAA Tournament prior to the Final Four is some guy named Steph Curry and if memory serves he is pretty good and about to win his second straight NBA MVP award. Also, Buddy’s real name is Chavano and it’s a damn shame announcers don’t get to shout that while he lights everybody up for 30+ points.
Super-Nova
One game after posting the most efficient offensive game in the last five years of college basketball, Villanova held Kansas to their season low scoring total en route to a spot in the Final Four. They’ll need to have the same effectiveness on defense against Oklahoma as the Sooners are similarly ranked to Kansas in many offensive categories. And while Villanova is known for its three-point shooting--and they take a ton of threes--Oklahoma is actually 2nd in the country in three-point shooting percentage. And, they take the same number of threes per game as Villanova.
Professional Detroit sports teams do not do well
The Red Wings and Pistons are each in tight races for a playoff spot, and neither did themselves any favors yesterday. The Red Wings were absolutely stomped by the Penguins at home. The 7-2 loss leaves the Wings tied with the Flyers for the final Eastern Conference playoff spot at 85 points, although the Flyers have a game in hand.
The Pistons are still in the eighth and final Eastern Conference playoff spot, with a two-game lead on the Bulls. Saturday’s loss against Atlanta ends the Pistons’ five-game win streak, and denied them a chance to take over the seventh seed. There are definitely arguments to be made that playing the Cavs in the first round is a better option than playing the Raptors, so this may not be so bad, and perhaps the Pistons did do themselves a favor. This, ladies and gentlemen, is what we call writing yourself in a circle.
Today is the ACC’s day
All four teams playing for the last 2 Final Four spots hail from the ACC. The conference’s run this tournament has been impressive by any standards, sending six teams to the Sweet 16. They are going to set a record for most money earned by a conference at a tournament, we just need to wait for the final buzzer to sound before we have a total. Just imagine if ACC heavy-hitter Louisville hadn’t self-imposed a postseason ban halfway through this year. Or, I guess you could imagine a world in which Syracuse and North Carolina faced some sort of substantial punishment for their misdeeds. I’m not sayin’ . . . I’m just sayin’.....
