May 3, 2016: The Game Managers did not place a bet on Leicester City

Quote of the day

“YOLO.” -- Keith Appling, we can only assume, when he decided to go to a strip club in Dearborn with a loaded AK-47. OK, you got us. We couldn’t find a great quote so we made one up to share this amazing story.

About last night . . .

Group of Englishmen remove golden horseshoes from rear end

Chelsea scored late to draw with Tottenham, bringing the sport world’s greatest underdog, Leicester City, to the club’s first Premier League title in their 100+ year history. If those words mean nothing to you, Eastern Michigan just won the College Football Playoff, but in England (and the world’s) highest soccer league. Hell, even ESPN had it first on their banner scoreboard, ahead of NBA and NHL playoffs. And those gentlemen removing golden horseshoes from their behinds: They’re the handful of people that placed bets on Leicester City at the start of the season when they were 5,000-1 underdogs. A drunken $7 bet landed one man over $36,000 . . . at least it would have if he didn’t take an early buyout from the sportsbook.

Cavs seem quite a bit better than the rest of the East

It wasn’t close. And then it was. Then the Hawks led. Then they didn’t. Then it ended up being not *that* close. The Cavaliers pulled away very late from Atlanta after failing to do so with an 18 point lead in the second half. LeBron fell down a bunch. LeBron dunked. Kevin Love bumped his shoulder. Ho hum. Game two is Wednesday night. I’m sorry this recap sucked, but this game pretty much went by the script except for the few minutes early in the fourth quarter when Dennis Schroder and his weird blonde patch of hair made it rain threes for a bit. Atlanta still doesn’t have a shot here.

Thunder leave San Antonio with a split somehow

Chaos is really the only way to describe the ending of Game 2 of this series, and fortunately for Oklahoma City, it came out on the unharmed end of that chaos. With a one-point lead, Dion Waiters leaned over the sideline and shoved Manu Ginobli before inbounding the ball, then threw it away, only to see the Spurs miss a shot then have the time run out as everyone scrambled for the rebound. The refs have now come out and said they missed the foul on Waiters, which literally means nothing. Now we have a series.

The Washington Capitals are doing that thing they do again

Washington outshot the Penguins by an approximate margin of 600-3, but that wasn’t enough to get the win. Pittsburgh now leads the series 2-1 and it’s starting to feel like Washington is going to do that thing where they lose a playoff series despite being the better team. Matt Murray is the former backup and now starting goalie of the Penguins and, obviously, he was pretty dang good. Oh, and he’s also a 21 year-old rookie, which is why you’ve never heard of him before. Probably a name to remember. Or not, because NHL goalies are more fickle than teenagers. Either way, the Capitals need to win three of the next four games or else that narrative they’ve built in the Alex Ovechkin era will never die.

Things to read today

More betting on Leicester stories

72 people placed bets in England’s two biggest sports books on Leicester at 5,000-1. Some cashed out early. Some waited and won big. And one will break your heart. But all of the stories are great. And Tom Hanks makes an appearance!!

Now, we all know how silly mock drafts can be. And we all know the 2016 draft just ended and that a year is a very long time for a football player’s draft stock to fluctuate, but dammit we just can’t help ourselves, we’re so addicted to this silly sport.

Space Jam 2?

Best of the rest

This man, somehow, made the Stanley Cup Finals as a head coach.
